I forgot to mention that I use the following custom agenda:

(setq org-agenda-custom-commands
      '(("c" "Agenda with Current Projects"
         ((agenda "")
          (tags "CURRENT" nil)))))

I am still experiencing this problem on

org-version => 7.4
