We could decide to live with that for one automatically generated page.

Maybe. It makes sense to just have one place for this sort of thing, and
for that place to be "Project heartbeat" on the Orgmode.org landing
page.

But if the "heartbeat" list is mostly manually curated, there may be a
justification for keeping an RSS aggregator page as well. It's pretty
much zero-maintenance, and it could be expanded; I've added a Mastodon
feed to see how that looks. (Sorry for littering the git history a bit;
silly mistakes were made.)
