In our current AI age, markdown is becoming a kind of lingua franca — the format in which the majority of LLMs give their output. OTOH I like to live inside org mode (if there is a choice) and use pandoc to convert markdown to org syntax. There are some niggles regarding syntax: - What is the status of newlines before headers? - What is the best practice? My bug report on pandoc has the details https://github.com/jgm/pandoc/issues/11187 The short version is this: pandoc evidently cannot convert to org without adding spurious newlines It would be super if someone more knowledgeable than myself in org matters weighs in on this on that bug report. But barring that any thoughts out here would be great
