Well. The latest Org mode release is not actually a part of Emacs installation. It is a separate package distributed via ELPA. Emacs's installation only contains the latest org mode release available _at the time of Emacs release_. Normally, Org mode should not hang on Org files. No matter whether you have some specific text there or not.
