This is a good idea. And as far as I can see this is correct. But it does mean for a git checkout people now need to have gettext- tools installed (but not for a released build). I don't know if all the buildbot workers have it installed, so when you do check it in please keep an eye on https://builder.wildebeest.org/buildbot/#/builders?tags=elfutils It might also be an idea to list the maintainer dependencies in the README file (we don't currently list any others though).
