Nevermind. I went back and tested some assumptions I was making back when I was still learning the MOP and found them not to hold, so I think I have a cleaner solution now.

What do you mean?

ensure-class-using-class will fail if it gets a keyword argument it
doesn't recognize

Strange, because its signature includes &allow-other-keys...
