Check the actual voltage, Doug. Often a "wall wart" has very poor regulation, with the voltage of a "12V" unit jumping to 15 or 16 volts under light load and sagging to 9 or 10 under full load.
Also, their filtering often leaves a lot to be desired. Some have none at all, producing pulsating, unfiltered DC and depending upon filtering in the device being powered. If neither of those points is an issue, it should work for receiving at least. OK folks, I do own a pair of K3 and a K2...but I also own A Yaesu FT817. Here is my question.... I want to set this up away from the shack, but still in the house, for RX only (when I'm not in the shack). I have a RS wall wart rated at 14 watts (12v, 500ma). Is there any reason why I should NOT use this as the PS? Thanks, de Doug KR2Q ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
