I understand why many use the QSK-5 -- since it is amp independent. If you're using an Ameritron amp, the internal switch (QSK-5PC) is just a lot cleaner and less complicated. One control line from Key Out on the K3 to the amp input. No fiddling, no jumpers or diodes, no timing issues. Just hook it up and go. I purchased my AL-1200 years ago (before the MFJ buyout) with the switch factory installed, and it is simple to use and smooth as silk. I installed the older PIN-5 internal switch on an AL-80A before that, same thing.
