Duane, Although you can certainly do that, I would suggest that you do not. If your K2/100 were ever sold, the buyer would expect that jack to be wired in the normal manner.
If you want 12 VDC for accessories, I would suggest that a RigRunner would be a better solution, or wire an in-line jack on the power cord. CAUTION, the extra jack would have the full current potential of your power supply, and should be fused with a fuse size that is consistent with your accessory and the size of its wire. Running high current DC into a small gauge wire can cause molten metal to fly in the event of a fault - think safety! 73, Don W3FPR dw wrote: > Hey Gang, > I don't believe I will ever use an external amplifier for > 100 watts > Pwr. > In 30 years of cw-ing, I've always operated 100 watts or less. > > The K2 KPA100 amplifier incorporates an RCA jack on the rear for > triggering an external amp. > > I'm thinking about modifying this in order to use it as an AUX VDC > output. > I could run an external keyer or swr power meter with it. > > Has anyone done this? > Or do you have suggestions on how this would be best done? > > Thanks > Duane > N1BBR > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > Version: 8.5.375 / Virus Database: 270.13.8/2224 - Release Date: 07/08/09 > 05:53:00 > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
