Wonder what she meant by "the old way"??? ;o) 73, Julius
---------------------------------------------- She's a child of the "internet age". I've actually run into people who don't understand how a radio signal can pass over an ocean or continent without a satellite to relay it. They are so habituated to the limitations of VHF/UHF with their cell phones, FM radios, TV signals, etc., that they don't realize lower frequencies are capable of long distances. By golly, that's what Heinrich Hertz decided too, experimenting with his apparatus in the VHF range, and why all the "experts" of the 19th century knew that Marconi would fail because "radio" was useless if the signal had to pass through a hill or over the curvature of the earth. It's déjà vu all over again, as that irascible American ball player once observed... I see young new Hams regularly and I'm pleased too. Maybe they'll set the record straight about what HF can do one more time, Hi!
