1. I use TLF (ncurses-based), which is designed for contesting but works for me for general logging as well. Xlog is good if you want a GUI.
2. Hamlib, which provides the hooks to work with other software (supported by many different programs). 3. Fldigi. This will work with hamlib but also will control rigs using supplied xml files.
