I travel with my KX1 in a small Pelican case on a regular basis. The radio has lithium batteries installed. The case includes the paddle, the banana plug adapter, antenna wire and headphones. I have a copy of my license stuffed in the back, between the colored liner and the clear outer case.
I would *not* check mine, for fear that it wander off. I usually travel with a rat's nest of stuff in my backpack, and am rarely bothered.
