I'm using the #4, Mike and also have the swing-down loupe. This has worked
well here for assembly of both Elecraft kits and SMT projects. Yes, the
focal distance is short, but I got used to that. Using a Pan-a-vise or
something similar to bring the board up off the benchtop helps significantly
in this regard.
