I've been using this method for decades (but obviously, still willing to try a new approach) and yet again, I have demonstrated that for the vast majority of cases, there is simply no faster way to get to a previously unknown discrete frequency than by using the keypad entry method. The auto-erasure of the SPLIT function when using the keypad entry method is, in my opinion, something to be addressed (aka corrected?) and I've sent this request to K3Support.
