I guess you don't hear too much about carbon emissions and global
warming over there. And perhaps electricity isn't as expensive as it
is here.

Personally I think climate change is a natural cycle and it won't make
much difference what we do, but I do get concerned at the cost of the
electricity bill. I bought a meter a while ago that measures the power
consumption of whatever is plugged into it. It's surprising what it
costs to run one computer for a year. Now, even the shack power supply
gets turned off instead of trickle charging the K2.
