Steve,

Check *ALL* the soldering with particular attention to those components added or changed with the KXB3080 installation. Check all the toroids for well tinned leads - particularly T2 and be certain there is no short from solder buildup at the 'A' solder pad on the KX1 board.

If there is a lot of solder on the solder pads, remove it. Many KX1s that I repair suffer from 'solder overload' due to the use of a large diameter solder (I use .015 inch diameter myself to allow good control of the application amount).
