I posted this on the yahoo group, but I figured I'll probably get more exposure by posting here as well. I know that this has been asked a thousand times, and I have done searches on this subject ad infinitum....but I still have to ask giving you my details for the best response! I know that the K1 and KX1 are both great little rigs. I like the look/size of the KX1, as well as the shortwave listening capability (although I do have an HT that can hear SW). I like the idea of the better ATU in the K1. I also like the power output of the K1. So, how much difference will these features make? Will the power output make that big of a difference?
My plans for the rig -- primarily portable. On camping trips, business trips, etc., I need something that's quick and easy to setup and pack. I would also like to get into pedestrian mobile a little, although this will probably not be primary. Most of the responses from my Yahoo post have been, "Get the KX1!" Any dissenting opinions? OK, I know that the best response is, "Get both!" And that would be my preference as well. But, currently I am not able to ge both, only one.
