Hi Mike, When you say you bypassed the K160RX module in your friend's K2, what did you do to accomplish the bypass?
Since your friend's rig puts out full power (110 watts, you said), that suggests that the transmit sides of the low power T/R switch (on the main RF board) and high power T/R switch (on the KPA100 PA module) are both working. It is possible that one of the PIN diodes on the receive branch of those T/R switches is damaged and causing loss of RX signal. The relays on the main RF board inline with the receive signal path are K16 (the attenuator select) and K17 (the preamp select). It would be unusual for both of those relays to fail. If you toggle the PRE/ANT button through those options, is there any click emanating from the relay cases? You can feel the relays switch states with a finger on the case. You will have to remove the 100 watt PA module from the radio to access most of the RF board relays, but that is not difficult to do. I suggest you listen carefully while keeping the 100 watt PA module in place for now and see if you can hear the ATT and PRE relays clicking as you toggle that control button. 73, Mike, K8CN ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [email protected]
