You might want to put a good ohmmeter on your Cantenna. They left the
new market quite awhile ago, mine measured 105 ohms and I "canned it" a
few months ago. It was vintage 1967 and also responded to tipping the
can some. The load resistor in them will deteriorate over time, much
faster if it's run hot for a period. Have never had a problem with the
KAT3 ATU, my K3 is S/N 642. I had a KPA500 and KAT500 for some time,
discovered that it takes around 20-25 W to tune reliably.

Two Elecraft tuners (main and spare) are finding erratic solutions on
all three antenna outputs. It's driving me crazy due to both exhibit
the same problem. It will find a solution one day, but not the next,
or an hour later on the same or a different band. New coax, cantenna
verifies.
If I connect the cantenna to the end of the coax next to the antenna,
same condx. Then I go back to it and it's OK. I left the cantenna
connected when troubleshooting a few days ago, and went on the next
day (and forgot) with it still connected and made contact with AA1SU
in Essex Junction, VT! 20m
What does that mean? Hello Heathkit -That big resistor in a paint can
full of oil made a 2000-mile QSO? (well it was on a hill hihi) Had a
good tune and the KPA helped with 3db)
I am talking to the Elecraft forum. But expect no real results except
some sympathy. I bought the second tuner (KAT500) 2-3 yrs ago because
the repair service was so slow. I think these are good tuners but
maybe they get tired. Troubleshooting Note: When ants are conn to the
radio's ATU, the tune is normal...
I need remote tuners that will tune my multiband dipoles and operate
with a remote client.. You guys know how hard it is to troubleshoot
intermittents. Plus I bought three all-new coax cables (~100') due to
I was eliminating everything, and they were 6yrs old and mostly
underground in PVC water pipe. (I am too cheap to buy PVC conduit. hihi)
