We had a similar situation where the cable company did not ground their cable to the AC Mains ground nor did they even provide a driven ground for their system.  The result was damaged TV's, surround sound system, and etc.   When I found this situation, the solution was simple.   Subscribe to satellite TV.   And I saw to it the dish was grounded to the AC Mains ground by dedicated conductor.  The installer wasn't happy to do this.  He contacted his supervisor who shortly appeared on the property.   I explained to situation to him and the installer.  Their conclusion "we normally do not do this".   My response was "do it as I prescribe, or take your equipment away and cancel my subscription".

Had the same situation with the phone/internet system when fiber was installed.   The fiber cable has a steel messenger.  I observed the installation and asked the installer to attach the messenger to the AC Mains ground.  He was glad to do so, but ask why?  I explained my concern was the copper from the fiber box to my shop was in place in their drop cable.   While the fiber itself was not a concern, the steel messenger that runs with the fiber cable is a conductor and should be properly grounded.

I strongly agree with Jim, K9YC where he prescribes EVERY piece of equipment and source MUST be bonded to the AC Mains ground. And using only one supply source for the station power is the best.    Doesn't make any difference if you run QRP or 5 megawatts.  One dedicated power source.

Specifically why I made a special sub-panel/drop installation adjacent
to the station.? All power over one wire to the service. Grounds are
impeccable.? Lightning shunt path(s) could be better.
I'd settle with flipping the on switch lately.

But I STILL lost $25k in equipment when the "cable company" sent and
un-grounded coax into my home.? That coax sent a goodly portion of a
full strike 6 feet away on a bull pine tree.
EVERYTHING attached to that coax died.? EVERYTHING.

Do it all.? OVER engineer.? Over build.? You can't do too much, but you
will run out of budget.? (smile)

PS - Thank Jim for the help over the last decade or so.? I'm still
pretty ignorant in the grand scheme, but you helped me learn enough to
be successful.

Be well, y'all!
