Tonight, while noodling around on 80m CW, I tried using the EQ settings to narrow the filtering so there wasn't as much noise interfering with the signals I was receiving. What I experienced was, when I was hearing a 700hz sidetone, if I reduced the 50 slider on the equalizer, hoping to remove some low-end noise, the sidetone frequency lowered! Am I misunderstanding something about the equalizer? I thought it was a filtering mechanism for removing unwanted noise and signals above and below the signal you want to receive. Am I using it wrong?
I looked at the operating note: "Using the Rich Audio Features of the KX3", it seemed to corroborate my understanding of this feature: Use the 8 band equalizer to adjust the audio signal so that the speaker or headphones you are using enhance the sound by reducing the levels on the upper and lower frequencies typically not found for communication audio. As you can see, this doesn't explain why the lowering of the 50hz section of the EQ should lower the received frequency of the sidetone. Or am I just misinterpreting this? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73, Gwen, NG3P ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
