Pete,
Connect a dummy load to the K3 (alone) and see if it still has the problem.
If the K3 alone is OK, then connect the KAT500 and put the DL on one of
the ports - do a TUNE and then try transmitting. If OK, then try
another KAT500 output and repeat.
Cables are easily checked by connecting a DL to one end and an antenna
analyzer to the other. Try that instead of random swapping. Toss any
bad cables in the trash.
