Hi Dave, The KX2 came out after the KX3. They are two different platforms aimed at two different markets. The KX2 is 80-10 meters only with an internal ATU. The KX3 is 160-2 meters (with the internal transverter) and internal ATU with optional PX3. Elecraft points this out on their website. From their website see below.
