On cyber Monday I picked up an FT – 710 for a great price of $1050. If this would’ve been my first radio I probably would I fell in love with it,, but unfortunately for Yaesu it was my third radio. 1=IC703, 2= KX3/PX3/KXPA100, 3= FT710 The display on the FT 710 is beautiful, but unfortunately I have to put on reading glasses to use it, whereas my old KX3/PX3 I can use without reading glasses in my camper. The audio output on the 710 was excellent for my OM hearing. But to me the background noise on the KX3 seems just a little smoother, not sure how to describe that? The PX3 panadapter puts the Yaesu to shame, Yaesu has a lot of work to do on their approach towards a panadapter Elecraft has the end-user in mine on their panadapter . The adjustability of frequency input was kind of a pain on the Yaesu. Very easy to adjust what you want on the KX3 via tapping the rat button. Antenna tuner?, Well we all know who the winner is there. And the winner is? The KX3, the Yaesu is on his way back to GigaParts. PS if you’re looking for a good radio on a budget I would recommend Yaesu, they do need a lot of firmware updates to make it a better user-friendly radio 73, KC9NRO -- Have a Great day!
