Some friends recently inherited a home from a relative who passed away. The home was sold and the furniture was made available to the siblings. The remaining, unwanted furniture was put on ebay, the proceeds to be split among them. My friend received a call from Santa Clare County demanding tax from the ebay sales. The State of California is now involved.
