Both are Mode A, and it seems that the K2 timing is a very teeny bit erratic compared to the K1EL. It's not enough to cause any problems for me, but it is discernable, or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This is something which I've noticed. If you put a scope on the RF output of the K2 and send dits at about 30 wpm, you'll notice a slight jitter in the weight every second or so. Listening by ear, you hear dididiDIDIDIdididididididiDIDIDIdididididididiDIDIDI, etc. The interesting thing is that it is observable even with an external keyer. It's caused by the microprocessor in the K2 being busy with something else -- it perorms an amazing number of functions.

Some guys swear it doesn't happen, others say it's just in the sidetone. I think that at some point in the firmware development Wayne twiddled something which improved this -- I don't seem to notice it as much anymore, but I haven't re-checked with the scope.

As far as timing is concerned, when I switch between the K2 keyer and a Logikey, I find myself making more errors for a while until I get used to whichever key I'm using. So there is a slight difference (mode B).

Of course all of this stuff is irrelevant since I went back to my bug!
