Thanks everyone for the advice on appropriate wire to use for winding my tangled toroid. I had searched several sources, including the ARRL handbook, but couldn't find any specific references to the characteristics of the wire to use.
I must confess to being a lurker because I am currently building ( ssshhh, don't tell ) an Emtech NW30 that I have had since 1999 and only now starting it. I figured the practice would serve me well before building a KX 1 which is my next project-or maybe some mini modules first. I am awaiting the new four band version of the KX 1. So, I am looking for a couple of feet of #28 enameled wire ( also known as magnet wire-as I suspected but needed to confirm ). I am enjoying kit building once again and generally just getting back on the air now that retirement has settled in. I cut my teeth on Heathkits years ago so it feels good to work through a list of directions and have all the needed parts at hand. Living where I do, parts' suppliers are non existent.
