G'day, > I bought a K2 because it is a great rig... > > I joined the reflector.... <snip> > I did not expect 30 emails in one day about contesting.... <snip> > I guess I was mistaken thinking this was a K2 technical reflector.
Welcome to the club. This reflector can often go off the rails as do others. "Towertalk" was building up a head of steam over competing theologies last week, the moderator was off-line for a couple of days. N6WG does make a valid point about contesting having a technical base, however, much of what was written didn't have anything that was specific to integration of Elecraft equipment into a high technical capability contest station. Clearly the thread indicated that operators are a different issue. When it gets too bad I just temporarily suspend the list and pick up anything interesting later from the archives. Now then, maybe if I rephrase a previous query, does anyone know what advantage would KPA100 v1.10 firmware offer in the next big contest over the v1.09 I currently have. Is it anything significant or just a maintenance tweak. Also, how many make use of all the MCU space dedicated to CW message memories. Would trimming them down a little or maybe retaining three the current size and the rest smaller make space for firmware enhancements. I am not alone in looking for mode retention when switching between VFO's within the current band.
