Ron, The salient part can be seen at the very end of this post. Sorry if I cut off too much information.
It was from George, who said he just did his KX3 with no problems, to later elaborate how he did it: " Removed the Knob. Then removed 5 screws. Ran my black marker around the outer edge 3 times. Set in place and redo 5 screws. Replace knob adjusting it against the felt washer for my desired feel. Less than 10 minutes. 72 George/W2BPI" This appears to be done with an assembled KX3. Maybe George can confirm this. If it is so, Ron, could it be that there is actually no risk to do it this way, or was George just lucky? Thank you, and I am holding off with it until it is clarified. 73, Arno K7RNO -----Original Message----- From: Ron D'Eau Claire [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, August 12, 2013 20:04 To: 'Arno Dienhart'; [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Elecraft] Simplest ever mod for K2 will also work on KX3 ??? No idea who you are responding to without including the salient part of his note but if it was Bruce, he is entirely correct IF you have a kit that has not been assembled. I was assuming that you had an assembled kit since you were concerned about what the screws mated with inside the KX3. I wrote the KX3 kit assembly manual and there may be some shortcuts one can take. I was trying to be complete for those who might have a factory=assembled unit. 73 Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Arno Dienhart Sent: Monday, August 12, 2013 3:11 PM To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Simplest ever mod for K2 will also work on KX3 Yours sounds a lot easier than what Ron advises. How did you do yours? ------------------------------- Just did my KX3. No problems. 72 George/W2BPI ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
