For those interested in this topic, I would like to point out that I too have been frustrated at finding a good linear 100 W amplifier to make folk hear me as well as I hear them with my internal K3 2 m transverter. The ones we have tested tend to be better for FM and CW use.
We have an article presently scheduled for May QST that will offer an easy to duplicate, low cost 80-100 W seriously linear amp for the K3, or other transverter that will get it up to the needed power level. If you need more power, the James Klitzing amplifier, Oct 2012 - QST (Pg. 32) Solid State 1 kW Linear Amplifier for 2 Meters is hard to beat. But the one in May can share your 20 A power supply, and makes it all work very well -- Stay tuned!
