I now have my KAT500 integrated with my K3 and KPA500. Before adding the KAT500, the KPA500 would follow the K3 around--I change band on the K3, the KPA500 would also change and then go to standby.
NOW the KPA500 does not detect the change, stays in OPERATE, and faults when I transmit, going to standby. Am I missing something? This is not good. I know the KPA500 is talking to the K3 because when I change bands on the KPA500, the K3 follows suit. I know the KAT500 is talking to the K3 because it selects the right antenna on K3 band change. I have them set up as shown in the KAT500 manual, talking via auxbus. I updated the firmware last night in both the K3 and KPA500 to the latest beta. Any help? QUESTION DEUX: I want to use the KAT500 with other boatanchor (no band data) radios. A. Do I need to unplug the auxbus from the K3, like as is required when using the KPA500 with another radio. In that case, the KPA500 will not change bands with the auxbus plugged in, even with the K3 off. Is that also true with the KAT500? B. Do I just send a dit from the boatanchor to the the KAT500 and it will switch bands, choosing the tuning solution from its memory? Is that correct?
