Phil, There is no TX TEST mentioned in the KX3 manual, but look for "Off-Air Code Practice" -- If you select PTT-CW (by holding VOX) hitting the key will generate only a sidetone (unless you tap XMIT) -- this is a direct quote from my early manual, page 16.
The original question involved also playing back memories.
