I save http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html in my browser. It shows the subject line of all the messages. Then I read the ones that interest me. I generally look down the right side for authors that I respect, and read their posts first. Then maybe the others. (One quickly sorts the wheat from the chaff.) No complicated filtering required.
