A "regular" VOM is not suitable because: 1) It does not have the input impedance required to avoid loading the circuit voltage checks.
2) Most VOM's apply enough voltage to the circuit to measure resistance to destroy i.c.s transistors, etc. You can use an older Vacuum Tube Voltmeter (VTVM) for voltage measurements. You need in an input impedance of at least 10 megohms. Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I have always used analog meters - any specific reason the resistance checks could not be made with a regular VOM?
