I encountered the same issue (repeatedly) yesterday with ~49 watts on CW during the 10m contest; in reading other reports of this error, and suggestions from another person that had this issue and conquered it, is that this may be related to increased contact resistance causing heating in a critical connector which causes increased resistance, which causes enough eventual voltage drop to produce the error -- see http://www.n2nl.net/?p=257
The connector in my radio has a similar 'look' to it for those same 6 pins. I turned the rig off and checked the power supply...13.75 volts, tightened the connections and turned the rig on again. It would only turn up to 8 watts indicated on the screen. I turned the power up and on the way up I got the 12 ERR message again without tx. I turned it off and on again and was able to turn the power up to 100 watts but when I tried to tx, the ERR message came up again and 8 watts indicated. Power amp fried?
