OK, I'm copying the reflector in hopes this will be useful to someone.
1. Started EE INIT which froze. Again, K3 would not turn off, would not
respond to any button pushes.
2. Pulled out the ACC cable, which has a gazillion things attached to it. EE
INIT completed.
3. Loaded a saved configuration (FEB11).
4. Forced new firmware load
5. Plugged in ACC cable master and VOILA! Same problem.
6. Unplugged each item attached to ACC with a Y cable, in this order, to see
if the K3 would respond. 1. KPA500 2 PR6 3 TOP TEN BAND DECODER 4) XV MASTER
(one cable goes to another split with one side to an XV144, the other to
XV432) K3 now responded.
I unplugged and replugged the XV MASTER a few times and now everything works
again. I have no idea what happened. I looked in the manual and could not
find a reference to what to do when the K3 freezes and will not power off. Is
there a way to force a shutdown without pulling the power plug?

Eric,
I would power down the K3 and wait a few minutes and then try again. The FW is
corrupted is my guess but you cannot hurt it doing the eeinit.
I have had this happen one time in over 3 years and from memory I had to do it
a third time and it was fine, I then reloaded the latest FW and all came good
from then on.
