I recall a couple years ago I ran in circles with this. My error was caused by dirt/corrosion between pcb pads "underneath" a resistor on the pll board. I don't have everything handy but you might try swapping the cable on the board that plugs into the pl1 output to the pl2 output that would go to rx2 if you aren't using a second rx. Yesterday I got an ERR PL1 when changing to 12m. I did a VCO CAL and it went away. This evening, I changed to 20m and got ERR PL1 again. I did a VCO CAL and it did not go away but showed up with an E 000129 ERR VCO. Since I am on east coast, many Elecrafters will see this before the support elves come on line Tuesday morning. suggestions?
