Obviously I can't speak for all of them, but my KUSB uses the Prolific chipset. And is 6 feet long.

If not, then you'll need the KUSB. I'm not sure what chipset the KUSB uses, but there should be OS X drivers available. I'm using Keyspan USB to serial devices. I've tested on 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5. Should work on 10.2 also. But everyone should upgrade to Leopard (10.5). It's way cool.
