Hi

I have managed to install Cygwin and Fontforge and am attempting to modify a
version of the Likhan font and I need some help.

I am doing this as the version I am using has an avagraha which is necessary
for typing Sanskrit. Unfortunately this version does not have khando-to in
the position 09CE only as one of the special combinations which are at the
very bottom of the display of glyphs.

I have tried two ways of getting khondo-to in the right place, firstly by
just copying the "bn_half_ta" as a glyph and pasting it into the 09CE
position and by double-clicking on the glyph, copying the outline,
double-clicking the target location and pasting there. The glyph appears to
go there, but when I generate a new font, it doesn't appear to be available
in the new font (I am using babel map to open the font).

I suspect that there is something very simple and fundemental that I don't
understand and I would be grateful if anyone here could help me with this.

Also can anyone say why the output in OpenOffice is so poor. I copied the
same bit of text into OpenOffice Calc and formatted them in each of the
different "free bangla fonts", mainly to see what each of the fonts looked
like but either avagraha was missing, khondo to was missing or I had
hideously misformed conjuncts or the dotted circle used as a marker for
vowel matras was displaying when it shouldn't.

all the best

many thanks in advance
