Hi, BdOSN doesn't have any shop at IDB building. If you have checked the label properly you would have seen that price tag was printed by the shopkeeper on his own. So, we are not charging less. We are still at only the media cost.
Now, if the shopkeeper charges it taka 150 I think he is not doing anything unethical (he has to pay his rent, pay his salesperson etc. Just like http://www.ubuntu.com/support/paid). Although we are not doing the same, we do give him credit because more people visit the IDB shops than the number of people who visit BdOSN office. Distributing Ubuntu through these shops was a huge success and we are going to make this operation stronger. There are alternatives to his offers and it is a free world. Well, one of our member has written a quick easy Bangla tutorial on Ubuntu (desktop). If we are going to include the manual this time with the distro, I think we are going to charge higher. We are yet to decide on it. So, Ubuntu is not charged. We charge for packages, media etc. Some of the users appreciate the process. Still, anyone have the option to use the DVD writer at our office in any number just paying for the media cost. BdOSN operation considers feedback and stats important because we like to follow up with the users and share there experiences. Sometimes we wonder if we really need a indigenous Linux distro (build from the kernel). We are trying to develop a stat on usage pattern of different packages with different categories of users. The primary feedback also helps us to make our support program stronger.
