Hi Veli-Matti, Thanks for such a quick reply. Seemed like the simplest solution to meet what I needed was to move /etc/xdg/autostart/smart_1-_Service.desktop and /etc/xdg/autostart/smart_1-_Tools.desktop to my Desktop folder where I could start them when wanted. I restarted the server, used x2go to get back to my server and sure enough, the smartboard software didn't auto-start! And, it successfully launched by double-clicking the desktop launcher files on my Desktop.
I then rebuilt the image: sudo ltsp-update-image --cleanup /, restarted, then again using x2go, I started Epoptes, did a WOL of one of the clients, logged in with a test-student account and sure enough, it didn't auto-launch! If a student really wants to use the software it's there to use but at least it isn't already running. Thanks for the help, Veli-Matti!
