Hello David, I run single nics on both servers and have always had troubles in the past getting things to use one nic but after a couple of hours... things work well. I dumped the network-manager and that helped. I'm at home and the servers are both off for the summer, but I remember that my resolve.conf got messed somehow and I also lost network configs between the first couple reboots after dumping networkmanger. I think I had to put the interfaces?? conf back 2x.
This is one reason that I'm still using 10.04 for next year! :D It's such a hastle getting everything upgraded. It's often the little things that turn into big mosters that keep life busy! I wish I could help more.
