Please try to give the information we ask for. The output of the "mount"
command please.

Are you sure the windows share is writable when you are not authenticated
to citserver? If you have a username and password on that machine you
might add username=xxx,password=yyy to the options above and see does it
make a difference.
-- of course....this is a public shared folder. it is in clarkconnect server,
and i shared it as windows network and file sharing. the palce actually in
/home/shared
and previously i have sent the smb.conf of that server right ?
no username, no password, no problem for windows users, but for
linux....problem
in using firefox, gimp ( so far that i found out )
previously.....i go to places - connect to server - windows shared - server :
citserver - folder : shared
but firefox and gimp can't save to this.
i have added with username and password.....even i used "defaults" value and
changed the gid and or uid
still......the same
