Dan, Penny, and others, I also don't have the skill to complete the 1.9 packaging. I'm forwarding this to the Edubuntu developers as moodle has been part of their suite for a while.

I think it's very unfortunate actually, and I'd love to be able to fix the package- but I do wonder how many people really use Moodle from the Debian package? Popcon indicates more than I thought actually: http://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=moodle But still it's not much. I definitely agree it's better to have no Moodle in Debian than the dreadful package that we have there now. We should also talk to the ubuntu guys too - are any of them on this list?
