Right now there is an easy way....smbldap-installer http://www.majen.net/smbldap It is hopeful that at some point something very similar will become part of Ubuntu Server....to my knowledge that's where it stands at the moment. I believe the work is being done as part of Ubuntu not just Edubuntu therefore we will all benenfit from it.
