I saw this problem again on an ubuntu desktop machine. Using the printers tool I then created a second printer queue pointed at the same printer and it works fine. I did the same in edubuntu and got the same results. So, for some reason the two printers below pasted from /etc/cups/printers.conf are not the same for evince. The DefaultPrinter is printable, the other for some reason greys out the printer button. I can't currently see why.
