I am the computer teacher at a private K-12 school in Winnipeg Manitoba

I have successfully been running K12LTSP server for two years now.

I have a dual zeon 3.06 GHz server, currently with 4 80 Gb SATA drives connected to a MegaRaid 4 port raid controller set for raid 0. I have currently 2 Gb of RAM.

Workstations are almost exclusively IBM 300PLs which are thin clients, onboard video, sound, nic, etc

They are a little slow when 30+ workstations all load StarOffice 7 at the same time, or when they log out.

Overall I have been happy with the K12LTSP distro, but am exploring options and am considering Edubuntu instead.
Questions:

1. Is Edubuntu as easy to setup as the K12LTSP distro? I have played with other distros in test environments with varying degrees of success. The LTSP portion is always my downfall. But with K12LTSP it works out of the box, with only tweaking required to be up and running thin clients

2. Sound has always been an issue. (on the workstations) very infrequently, the sound cards on the workstations produce sound. But mostly they do not. How is the sound on the thin clients connecting to Edubuntu?

3. Can anyone convince me/give me good reasons to switch to your distro? I mean, what in your opinion makes you better/different from K12LTSP?
