Not sure how useful this is James, but I got a bunch of old Compaq Deskpros to work only after I updated the BIOS. The HP/Compaq website has a comprehensive listing of updates, just check for your specific deskpro machine and run the relevant Rompaq as per the instructions on the site. As I say I don't know if this the cause of your problem, but I did have half-booting Compaq LTSP clients until I did a BIOS flash.

I finally got the machine to start booting, butit reaches a point where it does nothing, these are the 4 last lines I get:Begin: Running /scripts/nfs-top... Done. [4294679.422000] NET: Registered protocol family 17 IP-Config: eth0 hardware address [Insert MAC Address here] into 1500 DHCP RARPI followed the instructions as mentioned on that HOWTO, but that's whatI get, the PC is not frozen, since I can hit ctrl+alt+del and the machine reboots. Anyone know how can I fix this? --
