As others have reported, using the version (5.14 by now) here fixes this 
problem (on Ubuntu 20.04).

However, Leo Herzog wrote that he purged Calibre. I didn't want to do
this because I did not want to deal with rebuilding my library, so I
simply used the command at that link "To install or upgrade" and it
worked (without needing to purge or uninstall anything).
