I went to look at the Calibre-site, and there it is said that it's
better to install / download Calibre using the following instruction:

(see) https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux
sudo -v && wget -nv -O- https://download.calibre-ebook.com/linux-installer.sh | 
sudo sh /dev/stdin

I did this and since then everything seems to be all right.

(I first removed Calibre using synaptic)
